A. War in Iraq
Recent polls show overwhelmingly most Americans want our military redeployed out of Iraq. The Gordon County Democratic Party recognizes the will of the people and supports a safe, orderly, redeployment of our troops out of Iraq to better enable our military forces to strengthen our National Security by making bin Laden and the Islamic Extremist Terrorist Network our primary military target.
B. Jobs
The American economy is not producing enough well paying jobs for our citizens. The Gordon County Democratic Party is dedicated to finding our way back to greatness for innovation, manufacturing and technology leadership in the new world economy. The Federal Government must end deficit spending by eliminating wrongful tax breaks for the well to do, control spending and provide better fiscal planning for our future. We believe it takes fiscal responsibility to remain a world power.
To strengthen our economy we must establish a sound energy policy. This should include new, more stringent conservation and efficiencies’ requirements seeking energy independence. We must review our overall transportation infrastructure with energy costs in mind. This should include a long term goal of more light rail and other mass transportation, reducing both traffic and fuel usage. Tax breaks encouraging alternative energy development must also be pursued. All ideas must be on the table.
Now is the time to: Return To Responsible Fiscal Budgeting, Cut The Deficit, Stop The Borrowing!
- Immigration Reform
A nation of law abiding citizens has a right to expect those wishing to come into our country to come here lawfully. The Gordon County Democratic Party believes we must ask new immigrants to respect our laws, our citizens and our culture. We must demand our Federal government protect our borders and enforce existing immigration laws as we work to find better ways to move forward. We are a nation of immigrants but must remain a law abiding nation. Lax enforcement of current immigration laws has lowered our wages, taxed our support structures for the needy and left open our borders for both criminal and even potential terrorist activity.
D. Healthcare For All Citizens
The Gordon County Democratic Party supports the worthwhile goal of “Healthcare For All Citizens”. This will better allow our employers to effectively compete in the world market. This should include legislative actions to review all national healthcare ideas including the Canadian model and find what would work best for America. By removing inefficiencies of overpriced prescriptions and duplication costs of administration of many insurance companies, our national cost of healthcare can be reduced while the overall health of our citizens and our economy can be improved.
